Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA), headquartered in Bethesda MD, is the nation’s largest organization for people with hearing loss. The HLAA, (formerly Self Help for Hard of Hearing People, Inc.), was founded in 1979 by Howard E. "Rocky" Stone, who had a vision of an organization run by people with hearing loss and benefiting people with hearing loss. 

The HLAA exists to open the world of communication for people with hearing loss through information, education, advocacy, and support.  It is devoted to the welfare and interests of those who cannot hear well, but are committed to participating in the hearing world.  HLAA promotes self-confidence, empowers individuals with skills to improve their lives, and provides an opportunity for affiliation among people with hearing loss, their friends, families, and professionals.

You can join HLAA online at www.hearingloss.org (click on Membership).  If you prefer, you can get the form online and mail it in. Membership is $35 (individual), $45 (couple/family), $20 (students), or $60 (professional).
